New information has come to light about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 specifically around what the game will not include compared to previous entries in the series.

Although it was previously leaked through the Instagram account from developer/publisher Atlus, Persona 5 Tactica was officially revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase. It’s a strategy RPG spin-off of Persona 5 featuring the same cast of characters along with a new party member who joins the Phantom Thieves and a new villain to take down.

While it’s a turn-based tactics game, it features a lot of the flourishes you’d expect from a Persona game. Bethesda Game Studios space RPG Starfield has been out for over two months, and players are still discovering hidden Easter eggs. The latest one pays homage to one of Xbox’s oldest franchises.

Thanks to a video posted by Reddit user SamuRai_News24, we can see them use their jetpack to fly to the top of a silo. Once they get there, a skull can be seen in a fire within the silo. Although it isn’t outright said, this is a clear reference to Halo. Throughout each mainline story, players can find a series of skulls scattered around specific levels. Upon collecting them, they’ll then be rewarded with some augmentation they can enable in the settings.

Still basking in a post-BAFTA sweep afterglow, Larian has shared an update on Steam detailing what to expect from Baldur’s Gate 3 in the immediate future, and from the studio further down the line. The marquee inclusions of Baldur’s Gate 3’s upcoming Patch 7 are the game’s expanded evil ending cutscenes, a corollary to the feel-good party all the well-adjusted and happy gamers already got. I wasn’t expecting to see Dragon Age: The Veilguard turn up at the Xbox Games Showcase over the weekend ahead of the gameplay reveal it had already planned for tomorrow. But turn up it did, with a CG trailer that had a lot of fans, including me, very nervous about the plastic-y, poreless character designs. Partly to quell that public panic, I’m willing to bet, BioWare just gave us a “sneak peak” at 24 seconds of the planned 15+ minute gameplay reveal tomorrow. Everyone take ten deep breaths. It’s official: Civilization 7 is coming next year.

In what may or may not be a case of incredibly coincidental (and unfortunate) timing, an in-the-works addition to the legendary Civilization strategy game series has leaked via the 2K Games website.

The leak was quickly removed, but not before the banner image was memorialized by quick fingers on Reddit and Resetera. The banner also included links to a new trailer and wishlist page, neither of which were live while the banner was up.

The Summer Game Fest showcase is set to kick off at 2 pm PT/5 pm ET today, and we know 2K is going to be revealing something big—nothing less than “the next iteration in one of 2K’s biggest and most beloved franchises,” in fact. 

We had thought (although perhaps “hoped” would be a better word for it) that BioShock 4 might finally step into the spotlight; Borderlands 4 also seemed possible as a big statement following Take-Two’s recent acquisition of Gearbox. Of course, now we’re all moving our chips onto Civilization 7.

Sega might’ve declared 2024 the Year of Shadow, but Shadow the Hedgehog has been enjoying the adoration of preteens entering their edgy red-and-black phase since he first declared himself the ultimate lifeform back in 2001. You know, there comes a time when you wonder if the Old School RuneScape community isn’t just making fun of you. Like maybe they have a wheel of fortune somewhere they spin that spits out a collection of nouns, adjectives, and spurious reasons: “Player pickpockets half a million NPCs to get nothing much of value,” or “Player spends 149 hours obtaining a raccoon,” or even “Player catches a million terrible fish for reasons of inner peace.” Then they all agree to act like these acts of lunacy actually happened to intimidate newcomers who might ruin their favourite game.

Action isn’t the first thing I think of when it comes to Silent Hill 2, but that’s what Konami decided to show in a new trailer during Sony’s State of Play stream today.

If you squint, the whole thing looks like the Resident Evil 2 remake with the brightness turned down. Even in 4K, I couldn’t tell if I was looking at James Sunderland or Leon S Kennedy. Both men hold a gun the same way, but only one of them knows how to perform a drop kick.

The trailer doesn’t have a lot more than that. Bloober Team’s remake seems to be following in the footsteps of Capcom’s successful Resident Evil remakes, which, to be clear, isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I just don’t think a montage of a guy awkwardly shooting in pitch black rooms is the best way to convince anyone that you’re making a faithful remake of a beloved survival horror game. In fact, maybe this is a hint at the opposite.

Silent Hill 2, as the end of the trailer reiterates, still doesn’t have a release date. Bloober Team has been quiet about it since its 2022 announcement, and just recently pointed a finger at Konami for why there have been so few updates.
